Preventative Chiropractic Care

When thinking about preventative chiropractic care, I can’t help but think of this quote, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” - Benjamin Franklin.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the dental profession. They do an excellent job educating their patients on the benefits of prevention. Most everyone knows the importance and value of regularly brushing and flossing their teeth and that we should eat less sugar in order to prevent cavities or other advanced dental diseases. Since my mom is a dental hygienist, I know this concept very well and can proudly say that I have never had a cavity. I follow their recommendations to be consistent in my brushing and flossing and a low sugar diet, and it has produced good results in my life.

Did you know that regular chiropractic adjustments can work in a similar way? Being proactive in getting adjusted regularly lays a solid foundation for your body to heal from unexpected, but often unavoidable, injury or sickness. Just like you brush your teeth in order to avoid cavities, you should also get adjusted regularly to avoid chronic subluxations that can lead to a host of negative symptoms.

It’s not just about waiting to get adjusted until something bad happens to your body and you are in a large amount of pain. While I am thankful we can help people like this, it is not the recommended way. By consistently keeping your spine in alignment and removing nerve interference, you allow for your body to function at its best and are able to do the things you want to do. Those things may be exercise, yard work, better focus at work or improved relationships.

Having a Preventative Chiropractic Care “Mindset”

When you go through life with a “prevention mindset” and something happens that negatively impacts your body, your recovery is faster. I have seen it time and time again. An injury that would cause someone weeks to recover from may take just a few days or even less for a person who is adjusted regularly. This is because their foundation is solid and the severity of the impact on the body is lessened because their spine and nervous system are used to being in proper alignment.

Getting adjusted regularly keeps you in a place you can more easily heal from and gives you peace of mind. You can go on with your life and do the things you want to do without focusing your attention on your pain. This is what I want for all of you!

I celebrate all of you that follow this way of life. For those that haven’t yet, I encourage you to and know it’s never too late. Your body will thank you no matter where your starting point is!
